Overview
Nepali citizens must apply for a UK Standard Visitor Visa to visit the United Kingdom. Applications are submitted online via the UK government portal and biometrics are collected at the VFS Global visa application centre in Kathmandu (Thapathali). The 6-month Standard Visitor Visa costs £135 and processing takes approximately 3 weeks. Longer-validity multi-year visas are also available. The UK has one of the more thorough application processes — financial documentation, ties to Nepal, and a genuine purpose of visit are heavily scrutinised.
Required Documents
Prepare all documents before your appointment or submission.
Valid Passport
Minimum 6 months validity, at least 1 blank visa page. Include previous passports if any.
Bank Statements
Last 6 months — must show genuine savings history. Large, unexplained recent deposits are the #1 rejection reason.
Employment Letter and Salary Slips
Letter from employer stating position, salary, leave approval. Last 3–6 months salary slips.
Property Documents (Lalpurja)
Land/property ownership certificate with certified English translation.
Tax Returns / Income Tax Clearance Certificate
Evidence of tax compliance in Nepal.
Fixed Deposits and Investment Proof
Evidence of long-term financial assets in Nepal.
Purpose of Visit & Itinerary
Clear explanation of why you are visiting the UK and what you plan to do.
Accommodation Proof
Hotel bookings or invitation letter from UK host with their payslips, bank statements, and address proof.
Travel History
Last 10 years of travel — previous visas and stamps in passport.
Certified Translations
All Nepali-language documents must have certified English translations. Originals required — no photocopies.
