Overview

Nepali citizens require a visa to visit Japan. Japan does not offer an eVisa for Nepali passport holders — applications must be submitted in person through VFS Global Kathmandu, which processes visas on behalf of the Embassy of Japan in Nepal. A single-entry tourist visa allows stays of up to 90 days. The process requires detailed documentation including a day-by-day itinerary, financial proof, and confirmed travel bookings.

Required Documents

Prepare all documents before your appointment or submission.

Valid Passport

Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond travel dates with at least 1 blank visa page. All documents must be A4 size.

Passport-Size Photo

45x35mm, white background, taken within the last 6 months. No glasses, clear face visible.

Visa Application Form

Completed and signed visa application form (available from VFS Global or Embassy website).

Bank Statement

3-month bank statement showing a minimum closing balance of NPR 600,000. Must be recent (within 1 month).

Balance Certificate

Current balance certificate from your bank, dated within 1 week of application.

Employment Certificate

Letter from employer stating position, salary, and approved leave. Self-employed applicants should provide business registration documents.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Detailed itinerary for each day of stay in Japan, including locations, activities, and transport between cities. Vague entries like "sightseeing" may lead to rejection.

Flight Booking

Confirmed round-trip flight reservation showing entry and exit from Japan.

Hotel Booking

Confirmed hotel reservations for the full duration of stay in Japan.

Property Documents (if any)

Land ownership certificates or property deeds to demonstrate ties to Nepal. Optional but strengthens the application.
